Katherine “Kat” Rueckert

I’m a 25-year-old who loves Jackson! I’m a Project Engineer for a well-known, local construction company. My skills for budget management and project organization have already proved useful… it’s been eye-opening to dive into the Town of Jackson’s projected budget. Numbers say a lot about the operations of the Town, but the people say a lot about the character of the town…

In Jackson, I’ve been blessed to find some life-long friends, some epic locals, and a hidden community of what Jackson used to be. I’ve heard the stories of Jackson’s past where everyone knew everyone, the whole town turned out for Friday night football games, floating Flat Creek included a stop at Peggy’s place for some lemonade, kids skied Snow King before school, and doing donuts in the Rodeo Ground’s parking lot was innocent fun. That’s the Jackson I want to live in. Idyllic and authentic.

So who am I in this community? I’m a God-fearing church goer, a patriot, and a swing-dancing frequent at the Cowboy Bar. I keep a “CAT” hat on the dash of my 2002 Ford Ranger with an American flag in the passenger seat. I embrace what Jackson has to offer and I love the diverse local talents that define Jackson’s character.

I understand it’s difficult to have a community when outsiders try to define it. I don’t want to redefine Jackson, I want to revitalize it.
